Dear Friends,

I want to thank all of you who came out and supported me during this year's election. Though the results weren’t what we had hoped, our campaign put a spotlight on the important issues facing our City and community, including healthcare, education, and the economy among others. Because of you, our message rose above the majority of other candidates in the Democratic Primary enabling me to come within a razor’s margin of winning. The strength of your support made a significant impact on how this district is now viewed and will influence how we are governed in the future – that is an accomplishment to be proud of.

Now that the campaign is over, please join me in congratulating Karen Koslowitz who will be our representative in the City Council come January. With the economic and other challenges all of us face as we approach 2010, it is important to put party politics aside and give Ms. Koslowitz our full support.

As for me, in the immediate future, I will continue my work and advocacy for our neighborhoods as a member of Community Board 6, and as a public servant in the City’s healthcare system. I will also be taking some time over the next several weeks to meet with my supporters and advisors to determine a path for the future and how to best serve our vibrant and diverse community.

I will keep you updated on my future plans and ask that you keep in touch with me and let me know if you are interested in working with me to make the political process more inclusive so that we all prosper. For now, you can continue to reach me via my website, www.schulman2009; by email at lschulman2009@gmail.com ; or by calling my campaign line, 718-989-5745, which will be operational until the end of the year.

Thank you again, and I look forward to working with all of you as we enter the next phase of our journey to make central Queens a place for progress and new ideas.

Warm regards,
Lynn
